Boleslawiec Polish Pottery line is classified as high density stoneware, a durable product shaped from opaque, white clay of the superb quality. It is resistant to chips and breakage.
High quality Polish Pottery is hand-formed and hand-decorated. Painting on pottery became richly colourful in Boleslawiec region. The ornaments are painted using the stamp technique, unique to Boleslawiec ceramics. Decorative motifs are applied to the surface of the pottery object with small stamps soaked in paint. A variety of types of stamps are used to apply patterns on a single product. The number of individual decorative motifs achieved in this way can reach several thousand. The vibrant colours are chosen according to Polish custom, producing a great diversity of brightly hued wares. One piece compliments another regardless of design.
Polish Pottery is safe for oven, microwave, dishwasher, fridge and freezer.
The artists who create Polish Pottery carefully select their clays and fire them at the searing temperature of 1250 degrees Celsius - so it becomes as hard as stone and non-porous.
Furthermore, the artisans coat all the coloured patterns with a transparent, protective glaze in order to prevent wear and food from sticking.
Our bakeware is practical as well as beautiful, it is for real life and it can be used daily - not just admired merely for its beauty. Each piece is durable, yet attractive enough to bring a spot of colour and texture to your decor. Slight design and colour variations in this handcrafted stoneware enhance its beauty and distinction.
Stoneware pottery disburses heat and diffuses it evenly. The non-porous baking dishes are easy to clean and maintain. Polish Pottery bakeware can be brought directly and easily between the oven and table.
Our serving pieces are made to be enjoyed now and to be treasured in the future. Each item makes a beautiful presentation and a very practical gift. Tea and coffee items make a charming table centrepiece or kitchen accent as well as perfect handmade gifts.
Polish pottery platters are elegant enough for formal entertaining, simple enough for everyday use. There is a wide variety to choose from - great for mixing and matching.
History:
All pottery we offer is manufactured in region where the ceramic craft has over 700 years. The ceramic techniques in this region started to flourish in the 18th century with the introduction of a new decoration method, brown glaze with white patterns, which made the ceramics a well known and highly desired commodity throughout the whole Europe, including many royal courts.
In the second half of the 19th century manufacturers started to use colourful, stamp ornaments against a white background to make their products more attractive.
The traditions of fine ceramics are continued today and the mentioned stamp method has been in its prime time in the last decade.
